Jefferson Richardson born October 18, 1802 in Jefferson County, Georgia, . At the age of 27 he married Ann Mahala Woodruff. In 1839 he with his wife moved to Winston County, Mississippi. He lived one year with his fatherin-law, eight miles south of Louisville, the County seat. He moved to Alabama, where he had lived prior to moving to Mississippi, made a crop, sold his home there in 1840, then moved back to Winston County, Mississippi, and settled, 12 miles south east of Louisville. The name of the place, Coopwood. There he lived with his family 30 years. In 1870 he moved to Panola County, Mississippi, bought land near Pope's Station on the Mississippi and Tennessee railroad. His wife died there February 15, 1871, of pneumonia. He died August 1, 1881, in his 79th year. He was buried beside his wife at Antioch Church 3 miles west of Courtland, Mississippi.
