Hilda Lorraine Ballard

Services for Mrs. Hilda Lorraine Ballard, 83, of Ethel were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Doty Springs Baptist Church with burial in the Doty Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. Ballard died Nov. 13, 2003 at Hospice in His Hands in Durant. She was a member of Doty Springs Baptist Church. She was a ship yard worker during World War II, co-owner of Ballard's One Stop Drive-In on Delta Drive in Jackson, employee of Spartus Clock Company, and was a greeter at Wal-Mart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton E. Ballard.

She is survived by sons, Tony L. Ballard of Ethel and Devaughn "Buck" Ballard of Crystal Springs; daughter, Virginia Hemphill Romey of Florence; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

Rev. Mike Skipper officiated.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Adcock, Randy Edwards, Johnny "Bit" Belk, Larry Nowell, Roy Steed and Dwain Steed.

Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
