CLARKSVILLE--Carrie Beatrice Bailey Phifer, 82, of Clarksville, formerly of Detroit, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Bryan, of Denison, officiating. Burial will follow in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Fry & Gibbs.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Beatrice was born in the McCoy Community of Red River County to the late George Curtis and Della Ann Little Bailey. She married Elmer Lee Phifer, on Aug. 10, 1940 in Detroit. He died on Jan. 26, 1982. She was a homemaker and a member of Martin Memorial Methodist Church in Detroit.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband; a son, Elmer Junior Phifer; and an infant grandson; three sisters, Nora Lorene Phifer, Mary Agnes Hope, Irene Johnson; a brother, Thomas Harvey Phifer.
Survivors include three children, Wanda (Bobby) Jones of Detroit, Sarah (Joe) Grizzle of Manchester and Jimmy (Vicky) Phifer of Detroit; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline (Billy) Byron of Seagoville; two brothers, Leonard Caton Bailey of Clarksville and Albert Bailey of Dallas; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Phifer.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
{Beatrice married the widower (Elmer Lee Phifer) of her sister (Nora Lorene Bailey Phifer). Nora died in 1939.
