Lee Eakin Dies Suddenly While Sitting On Porch - Retired Oil Field Worker Succumbs at Home of Daughter

Lee Eakin, age 72, died suddenly at 12:30 p.m. yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Stephens, with whom he lived on the Church Run Road. While not in robust health, Mr. Eakin had been about as usual and was sitting on the porch of the Stephens home when he was stricken, falling from his chair. He was dead before a physician could be called.

The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Eakin and was born near Wesley in Venango County, August 24, 1869. He worked in the oil fields most of his life and had a wide acquaintance. He was married to Miss Lena Thayer at Bradleytown November 22 1892, and she died July 24, 1937 in Pleasantville.

Besides Mrs. Stephens, the daughter with whom he made his home, Mr. Eakin leaves the following other children: Mrs. William Noble of Grand Valley, Lawrence Eakin of Titusville, and Mrs. George Miller of Grand Valley. There are 27 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. John Adams of Hood River, Oregon. The body is at the Arnold Funeral Home, where friends may call and where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. E. W. Mattison of Union City officiating. Internment at Neilltown cemetery.
