| Birth: | Mar. 22, 1914 | | Death: | Jun. 24, 1983 |  US Congressman. Served in the United States Army during World War II as a 1st Lieutenant in the Military Intelligence Branch. After the surrender of Germany in May 1945, he worked as an Assistant Prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials. After a time serving as a District Attorney in Niagara County, New York, he was elected to represent first New York's 42nd District, then the 40th District in the United States House of Representatives. He served from 1951 to 1965. In 1964 he was tabbed by Senator Barry Goldwater to be his Vice-Presidential Candidate on the Republican Ticket. However, the Goldwater-Miller ticket was soundly defeated by incumbent President Lyndon B. Johnson. William Miller was not a candidate for his Congressional seat due to his Vice-Presidential candidacy, and the seat went to Congressman Harry P. Smith III. He died in Buffalo, New York in 1983.
