Gladys I. Mitchell, of Vichy, MO, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014 at the age of 85. She was born on December 18,1928 in Vichy, MO to the late James Lloyd Bailey and Mary Elizabeth (Moreland) Bailey. On September 25, 1964 she married Walter E. "Gene" Mitchell in Owensville, MO. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2011.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Retha Hodge; two brothers, James Leonard Bailey and Dorsey Bailey; and a grandson, Jeff Shockley. Gladys was a great cook, loved motorcycle riding and loved to go dancing. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
She loved her family above all else. Gladys will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes: one son, Philip "Phil" Bailey and wife Carol of Vichy, MO; five daughters, Gloria Bellinger of Naples, FL, Beverly Hunt and husband David of O'Fallon, MO, Charlotte Curran of St. Charles, MO, Beverly Wiles of Belle, MO and Peggy Jo West and husband Joe of Vichy, MO; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Gladys Mitchell will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Macedonia Baptist Church.
