BORN AT MARIA STEIN

Bernadina Meyer, 65, for years a highly-respected resident of the Newport vicinity, was claimed by death at her home one and one-half miles west of that village Saturday. Complications, with which she had been ill for five months, were blamed. She was bedfast for four months.
Born on April 15, 1872 at Maria Stein, she was a daughter of August and Elizabeth (Ording Deppen) Albers. Her Father, who came from Germany, and her mother, who lived in the St. Rose community, preceded her in death. Her girlhood was spent in the Maria Stein locality.
In the year 1897 the decedent was married to Henry Hoehne, who died on April 7, 1902. Two children were born to their union. They are Anna and Lawrence Hoehne, both of whom are living on the home place near Newport.
Her second marriage, to Herman Meyer, was solemnized on January 27, 1904. Mr. Meyer also preceded her in death, on February 17, 1910. A daughter and a son, who survive, were born to their second union. They are Mrs. Theresa Ortwerth of McCartyville, Mrs. Julius J. Meyer (Mary Agnes Meyer) of Minster, a stepdaughter and Louis Meyer of Sidney.
A sister, Anna Albers, lived with her near Newport; another sister, Mrs. Huber, is a resident of Sharpsburg; and a brother, Henary Albers, resides at Maria Stein. There are eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Meyer was a zealous church worker and was outstanding n both religious and social activities in her community. She was well-known in this section because of her numerous visits here and from the fact that many of her relatives are living in and near this place. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception society of the Newport Catholic Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the SS. Peter and Paul church at Newport with Revered Otto J. Herrmann, the pastor, officiating. Internment was made in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Julius Gariety, Frank Schwartz, Frank Borchers, Henry Philpot, Frank Lachey, and Henry Vagades.
