Actress. Born Dorothy Fay Hammerton in Birmingham, England, she was best remembered for the role of actor Mickey Rooney's mother in MGM's "Andy Hardy" film series. Prior to films, she worked with California's Pasadena Playhouse and made her screen debut in "Exclusive" (1937). Among her many credits are "Souls at Sea" (1937), "Test Pilot" (1938), "Bitter Sweet" (1940), "Ziegfeld Girl" (1941), "Little Miss Big" (1946), "Samson and Delilah" (1949) and "The Big Hangover" (1950). She died in Woodland Hills, California.
