Memories from Dr. Herbert Hudnut:
"My oldest sister, Elisabeth Hudnut Clarkson, (Nan) now 81 years old said that she remembered the two Schaaf boys as good looking, nice teen-age boys....she would have been about 10 or 11 then. And she knew the family to a mild degree as she grew up. Aunt Jo (Jo Shaaf Manchester) sometimes sent them to pick up corn grown by Uncle Frank. She liked Uncle Frank and Aunt Jessie and the whole family. She said that Aunt Jessie was a quiet person. When Uncle Frank died, my father officiated at the funeral service. Nan recalls being told that there were lots and lots of people who came to the church for the service. Apparently Frank had lots of friends and possibly was active in the church. There was a church dinner after the service. Dad and Mother traveled from Detroit to the service."
