Joe Tasker was an British mountaineer. Among his notable achievements were climbing the West Wall of Changabang, Kangchenjunga, and two expeditions to K2.

Tasker was also a gifted writer of mountaineering literature. He wrote the books Savage Arena and Everest the Cruel Way.

Joe Tasker and Peter Boardman disappeared from the Pinnacles area of the Northeast Ridge of Everest in 1982. Boardman's body was found by a group of climbers in 1992. Tasker's body has never been found.

After Tasker's and Boardman's deaths, the Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountaineering Literature was established in their memory and honor.
