Orene Leatherwood Beatty died peacefully Thursday afternoon, Feb. 4, 2010, in her 81st year.
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the sanctuary of Western Hills United Methodist Church. Following committal services at 2:30 p.m., Orene will be laid to rest next to her husband, Max, in Montague Cemetery, Montague. Visitation: She will lie in state on Monday at Robertson Mueller Harper; friends and family will be received in the Great Room from 5 to 7 p.m.
A native of Montague County, Orene was born Aug. 18, 1928, the daughter of Joseph Marion and Ethel Lee Barnes Leatherwood. After graduating high school, she moved to Wichita Falls where she met her husband, Max Beatty. After Max graduated from Midwestern University, they moved to Fort Worth where Orene has been a resident for the last 50 years.
Orene's life was about taking care of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved all of her family dearly. She was also dedicated to her church. She was a member of Western Hills United Methodist Church for over 40 years.
Although Alzheimer's had taken over her life the last few years, her underlying personality of kindness, gentleness and helpfulness remained.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max Beatty; and her brothers and sisters.
Survivors: In addition to her children, Mark Beatty and his wife, Sheri, and Meleasa Clements and husband, John, Orene is survived by her grandchildren, Clayton, Lauren and Kristin Beatty and Ryan and Holly Clements; a great-grandson, Cayden Beatty.
