2nd Lieutenant Chester Adkins served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II with the 854th Bomber Squadron, 491st Bomber Group, Eighth Air Force.
Chester was "Killed In Action" during the war when his plane was shot down over Germany and he was awarded the Purple Heart.
