MARVIN BRISS, 20, DIES IN VIETNAM
Spec. 4 Marvin C. Briss, 20 year-old son of Mrs. Sivert Larson, Binford, was killed in action in Vietnam. He had been in Vietnam since October, and in the army since May, 1968. Services will be in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Binford at a time to be set. Quam-Plaistad Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born at Cooperstown, November 6, 1948, the son of Clarence and Ella Briss. His father, Clarence, died in 1962.
In early April, he was wounded and hospitalized. He was decorated twice this winter, with the Air Medal and the Army
Commendation Medal for Heroism. From October 24 to February 8 he participated in more than 25 aerial missions over hostile territory, and received the Air Medal in recognition of his "meritorious achievement – outstanding degree of professionalism – devotion to duty" in that time. For action as Rifleman with an Infantry unit January 19, he was awarded the Army Commendation medal for "heroic actions – in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service."
