Chester H. Isaacson, 81, of White Birch Village, Iron Mountain, Michigan, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, MI.
Chester was born Feb. 23, 1922, in Felch, son of Jacob Isaacson and Anna (Wickman) Isaacson. He had been a lifelong resident of this area and was a 1940 graduate of Felch High School.
He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the European-African-Middle Eastern and Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. He completed his tour in the military police and as a guard patrolman.
Chester married the former Alice Jarvi on Aug. 26, 1961, in Iron River.
He retired after many years of employment from Lake Shore Inc. Chester was a member of First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. He was one of the first volunteers for the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, music and gardening.
Chester was preceded in death by five sisters, Ellen and Mildren Isaacson, Emelia Anderson, Agda Lindstrom and Clarice Richtig, and three brothers, Alfred, Leo and Werner Isaacson.
Chester Isaacson was survived by his wife, Alice Isaacson; two sisters, Beatrice Maki of Kingsford and Joyce Muterspaugh of Iron Mountain, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
