Edith Mattie "Edie" McMurtrey, 84, of Idaho Falls, died Feb. 3, 2010 at her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was under the care of Alliance Hospice.
Edith was born Feb. 24, 1925 in Tooele, Tooele, Utah to Elsie Irene Raymond and Mack Charles Bart. She went to school in Rigby, Idaho. She married Lamont McMurtrey on 8 Aug 1942 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. She worked as a cosmetologist, clerk, car shuttle driver, secretary and homemaker.
Edith was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a faithful visiting teacher and served in the Relief Society for years.
She was also an avid bowler and bowled in the Senior Citizen League at Skyline Lanes in Idaho Falls. She was a friend to many who knew her.
Surviors include her daughter, Edith "Edie" (Al) Newman of Blackfoot; 2 grand children, one brother and 10 great grandchldren and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, two grandchildren and a brother. Funeral services are Feb. 6, 2010 at the Idaho Falls LDS Stake Center on First street. Burial is at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Contact the Wood Funeral Home for more information.
