His house became the first hospital in Olney, opened by Dr. Hamilton.

Final rites for A.E. Cathey, 78, were conducted from the First Baptist church with Rev. W.H. Townsend, pastor officiating.

Interment under direction of McCracken Funeral home.

Pallbearers: Ernest Bowden, Charles Norton, William Pankonin, J.C. Taylor, L.B. Dees, Dave Stowe. Odd Fellows conducted the graveside ceremony.

Mr. Cathey died at his home following an illness of two weeks. He had suffered a paralytic stroke.

A.E. Cathey was united in marriage to Miss Lydia Dark at Evenshade, Arkansas on 22 January 1885 and four children were born to this union. Mrs. Cathey died in December 1914. One daughter, Mrs. Ida Fore, preceded him in death in 1914.

A.E. Cathey married Mrs. Lilly Belle Mayfield in Olney on 20 August 1922.

Mr. Cathey was converted at an early age and was a member of the Baptist church. He lived a faithful Christian life until his death. He was a charter member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Olney. H had lived in Olney since 1906 moving here from Ponder.

Survivors: widow; two sons - Albert D. Cathey of Olney, A. Ecless Cathey of Denver, CO; daughter - Mrs. Ada Anderson of Megargel, step-daughter - Mrs. H.E. Bost of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; sister - Mrs. Amanda Spann of Archer City; brother - John Cathey of Kansas City, MO.

Out-of-town friends and relatives - Mr. and Mrs. Harve Spann of Wichita Falls, Mrs. J.B. Gutherie of Seymour, Mrs. Amanda Spann of Archer City, Mrs. John Longan of Archer City; Mr. and Mrs. G. Howard of Burkburnett, Mrs. Della Parmley and Doris of Lone Oak, Mrs. E.T. Howard of Bitter Creek, Mrs. Ella Morris of Clayton, NM, Mrs. Clarice Helsep of Clayton, NM, Mark Lamkins, Lee Lamkins, Helen Lamkins, Mrs. E.C. Rippy of Ponder.
