Beulah Ruth (Eiffert) Martin, 90, a resident of the Scotland County Care Center, Memphis, MO and formerly of Downing, MO, passed away at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO, April 5, 2005.

The daughter of Harry Herber and Beulah (Bradford) Eiffert, she was born on January 16, 1915 in rural Queen City, MO.

She attended rural Union School.

On November 14, 1930, she was united in marriage to Minor F. Martin. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1999, at the age of 93. They made their home in Adair County for 50 years. Following his retirement, they resided in Downing, MO, for 28 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Comstock and husband, Junior of Downing, MO and Mrs. Bernidene Billiet of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Cheryl Eddleman and husband, Michael of Kahoka, MO, Craig Comstock and wife, Mary of Unionville, MO, Candace Magruder and husband, Kerry of Norman, OK, Terry Luer and husband, Jeff of Lakeland, FL and Tracy Comstock of Phoenix, AZ; 13 great-grandchildren, Shawn Erickson and wife, Eva of Hermann, MO, Nikki Worstell and husband, Tommy of Belton, MO, Laura DeKraai and husband, Dan of St. Joseph, MO, Vanessa Whitaker and husband, Matthew of Downing, MO, Jason Comstock of Kirksville, MO, Rachel, Hannah and Susanna Magruder of Norman, OK, Christopher, Jimi, Steven, Nichole and Michelle Comstock of Phoenix, AZ; six step-great-grandchildren, Travis Eddleman and wife, Cindy of Olathe, KS, Clint Eddleman and wife, Malachi of Kahoka, MO, Kristi Eddleman of Vevay, IN and Andrew, Matthew and Jonathon McCollom of Unionville, MO; nine great-great-grandchildren, Thomas, Jonathon and Timothy Worstell, Quincy and Schuler Erickson, Lexi DeKraai, Victoria, Kaitlyn and Cliff Whitaker; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Payton Eddleman and Meadow Eddleman; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Roberts and husband, Bob of Mission, TX; one brother, Merle Eiffert and wife, Ella B. of Downing, MO; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Regina Botkins of Kirksville, MO; many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Boyd and Bernie Eiffert; one sister, Ella Marian Snowbarger; two grandsons, Tony Michael Comstock and Gary Lee Comstock; and one son-in-law, Gene Billiet.

Ruth was a faithful member of the Downing Christian Church, a member of the Opportunity Club, Chit Chat Club, the 4 Corner Club and the Christian Women United.

She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker and excelled at all the domestic arts. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services were held April 9, 2005, at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, MO, with Larry Smith, pastor of the church officiating. Music was provided by organist, Betty Anderson, soloists, "The Magruders" and Craig Comstock. Pallbearers were Matt Whitaker, Jason Comstock, John Scurlock, Robert Gallagher, Shawn Erickson and Tom Worstell. Burial was in the Downing City Cemetery in Downing, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Downing, MO
