Near Vienna, Ill., Mrs. Herbst attempted to pass a gravel truck, lost control and was killed when the car crashed into a ditch and she was hurled into a barbed wire fence, police said.
Police said they found the child, uninjured, standing near the wreckage crying for his mother. It happened at 3 p.m. yesterday.
