Ross Rogers, Former LHS Football Star, Succumbs
Ross W. Rogers, 52, of 1411 W. Eire Ave., was pronounced dead on arrival at 10:40 p.m. yesterday at St. Joseph Hospital.
A resident here 50 years, he was born in Duquesne, Pa.
Best team in the history of LHS.
Rogers performed equally well at guard and tackle and was known as "a big blonde charging lineman." His performances won high praise in the Lake Eire League where Lorain High School competed in the 1920s and 1930s
Mr. Rogers was employed as stationary engineer at Ford Motor Co., Bookpark Plant, and was a member of St. Mary Church.
Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Agnes LaLonde; three daughters, Katherine, a student at Bowling Green University, Joan and Jean, both at home; his mother Mrs. Ida Rogers of Lorain and two sisters, Mrs. Alton Cook of Amherst and Mrs. Neil Seacrist of Elyria.
Friends will be received at Schwartz-Spencer Home for funerals after 7:00 p.m.today.
Services will be Wednesday at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Recitation of the Rosary will be tomorrow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
