Jack Leroy Ayers, 78, of Albany, died Jan. 29, 2010, at Quail Run Assisted Living Center in Albany.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 3, at Huston-Jost Funeral Home.
He was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Lebanon, the son of Ivan and Rita (Bilyeu) Ayers. He grew up in the Tennessee area near Lebanon. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1949.
He was a longtime farmer and dairyman who owned Ayers Dairy near Lebanon. In the 1970s, Jack went into the trucking business, J &H Trucking of Albany/Tangent until retiring.
He was an active volunteer, supporting the Jaycees, local schools, 4-H and Storybook Land in Albany.
Mr. Ayers married HELEN FORT in Lebanon on June 29, 1951. She died in 2002.
He is survived by son Jack I. Ayers of Salem; son and daughter-in-law Monte and Gina Ayers of Albany; daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Jim Lomax of Salem; daughter Linda Ayers of St. Helens; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will follow at the Lebanon I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
