Services for Frank Paul Batista, 83, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. The Revs. Dimitrij Colankin of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Steven Johnson of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at the funeral home.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Batista died Saturday at his home. He was born in Canonsburg, Pa., and was a longtime resident of Caldwell. He was a retired merchant with Douglass & Batista Men's Wear and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caldwell. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post No. 451. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rotary Club, S.P.J.S.T. and Sons of Hermann. He was past president of the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce, was on the Burleson County Fair Association, the Caldwell I.S.D. school board, the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department and the American Heart Association. He was one of the first military personnel to arrive in Bryan to help establish the Bryan Air Force Base.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Perkins Batista of Caldwell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul J. and Cathey Batista of Caldwell and Douglass F. and Elizabeth Batista of Weatherford, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Dena Frances and Michael Haenchen of San Antonio; two brothers, Vincent Batista of Tallmadge, Ohio, and Richard Batista of Canonsburg, Pa.; three sisters, Frances Kosem of Midway, Pa., Mildred Podboy of Rancho Cucuamonga, Calif., and Sylvia Holsey of McMurray, Pa.; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Caldwell, the First Baptist Church School or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
