Hazel Levi Weidner, 78, of 612 E. 11th Street, Rushvilled, died at 7:10 a.m.Sunday,February 26, 1995 in Miller's Merry Manor.
Born August 27, 1916 in Rush County, she was the daughter of Mathew and Catherine Evans Richardson. She married Harold "Punk" Levi in 1935 and he preceded her in death in 1962. She later married Lowell Weidner March 11, 1972, and he survives. She was a 1934 graduate of Rushville High School and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon, a member of the choir, a director and teacher of Sunday School, and Cherub Choir Director. She was active in the Pocahantas Lodge and had held all offices at the local and state level including Great Pocahantas. She was a member of the POG, a past chief's club of Pocahantas. She had worked as a reconciling bookkeeper at Rushville National Bank from 1963 - 1973.
Surviving besides her husband are three sons: Pete Levi, Richard K. Levi, and Bruce Levi, all of Rushville; five step-sons: Michael and Lowell "Sam" Weidner Jr., and William Thomas Weidner, all of Rushville, John Weidner of Indianapolis and Charles Anthony "Tony" Weidner serving in the U.S. Navy; tow stepdaughters: Mrs. Ed (Jane) Fry of Rushvilleand Mrs. Don (Jean Ann) Oesterling of Frankfort; one brother: Lowell Richardson of Leesburg, FLa.; 28 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one sister.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Rushville with the Rev. Mae Hicks officiating. Entombment is at Rushville East Hill Shrine Mausoleum. Visitiation is 4 - 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Rush County Community Foundation.
