New Jersey, USA
"First to locate in Forward Twp, then part of Rostraver Twp and Westmoreland Co, Virginia, were the Applegates and the Walls, who migrated from New Jersey by way of Maryland in 1766.
William was the father of Ruth Applegate who married John Dye (son of James Dye/Dey and Sarah Leack) of Middlesex County, New Jersey. Jemima Applegate who married Edward Evans, and Catherine Applegate who married Robert Wright. All three daughters were married in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania (the Jersey Settlement)".
(excerpt from The Dye Society)
"She (Jemima) had four sisters, all of whom married. Two of their husbands were Revolutionary soldiers, John Dye and Robert Wright, and they two and Edward Evans used often to sit together and recount their experiences in the Revolutionary War. Each had served in different places during the war, one at sea and two on land".
