Actor, Artist. He is best known for his portrayal of lawyer Garrett Wells on the TV series "Boston Legal" from 2005 to 2006. The Austin, Texas native began performing at age three in local theatre productions, and majored in drama at Northern Illinois University. During his sophomore year he studied at the famed Moscow Art Theatre as part of NIU's summer exchange program. Mentell made his big screen debut in "Gotham, IL" (2004) and went on to appear in the films "Roll Bounce" (2005), "At the Still Point" (2005), "'77" (2006), "Palo Alto" (2007), and the Disney feature "G-Force" (2009). In "Roll Bounce" he got to display his speedskating skills, which once earned him a place on the US Junior National Speedskating team. Shortly before his death Mentell left acting to pursue painting full time, and had his artwork shown in Los Angeles, Belgium, Chicago and Canada. He died in an auto accident at 27.
