He was born in Wilkes-Barre, son of the late Martin and Agnes Sot Wiss, and attended Wilkes-Barre schools.
Mr. Wiss was employed as a weaver for American Silk Mills Inc., Hudson, Plains Township. He was a Navy veteran of World War II; a member of SS Peter and Paul Church, Plains and the Joseph E. Conlon American Legion Post 558, Plains.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years, the former Anna Barna, are sons, Martin, Walter 1. Jr., all of Wapwallopen; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 from the Mark V. Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark St., Plains, with a Funeral Mass at 10 in SS. Peter and Paul Church. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Plains, with military services at the cemetery. Calling hours for the family will be held before the service.
