Harold Boynton was born April 8, 1906 to Leroy and Libbie Boynton. The Boynton family lived in a farmhouse near Harvard. That is a small village east of Grand Rapids, MI.

Unfortunately, after Harold's birth the house caught fire and Leroy carried his wife 1/4 mile down the road to his father's farm home. Complications set in from the birth and fire and the following morning of April 9th Libby passed away because of convulsions.

Little Harold and his two year old sister Blanche were then largely raised by their grandfather Ebenezer Boynton.

As a young man Harold came to the Detroit area where he met Georgia Rowe. They were married June 2, 1926. From that union came five children: Virginia, Ronald, Jimmy, Mary Jean and Garey Boynton.

Harold found several opportunities in life to pursue a livelihood for his family. One of his first experiences was installing sewers. There was work at the old Dodge car plant in Detroit. He invented a unique plastic clothes pin that sold for a while to various outlets. One was Hudson's in Detroit. Eventually competition did not allow the expense of producing it and the last 25 years of his working days were spent in commercial painting.

As the family rode around the metropolitan Detroit area they were always informed, "I painted that building, that house . . .''

He even spent some time painting the Mackinac Bridge in upper Michigan.

Harold always enjoyed life whatever he was doing. The last 40 years or so his life was inspired by strong Christian principles and that was the heritage he left for everyone who knew him. Harold Boynton passed away the day before his birthday in 1982 as he was doing what he desired . . . a little home refurbishing. The next day he would have celebrated his 76th birthday.
