AMANDA VIRGINIA TAYLOR THOMAS

Amanda Virginia Taylor Thomas was born November 9, 1929 to Harry and Chrystena Taylor in Gary, Indiana. She went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 22, 2010, at Saint Margaret Select Hospital in Hammond Indiana.

Amanda was united in Holy Matrimony to James L. Thomas on December 28, 1958. Early in her life Amanda accepted Christ and was a member of Saint James Baptist Church of Gary, Indiana. She later joined Friendship Baptist Church of East Chicago, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Thomas; parents, Harry and Chrystena Taylor of Gary, Indiana; two brothers, Joseph Taylor and George (Mary) Taylor, all of Eden, North Carolina; three sisters, Easter (Willis) Jacobs, Aloma Taylor of Gary, Indiana and Mary Taylor of Chicago, Illinois. She leaves to cherish her memories, stepdaughter, Carolyn Crawford; six brothers, Harry (Shirley) Taylor of Seattle, Washington, Donald (Barbara) Taylor of Antioch, Tennessee, William (Doris) Taylor and Horace Taylor, all of Gary, Indiana, Kenneth (Blondell) Taylor of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Richard Taylor of Long Beach, California; five sisters, Earlene Cross of Baltimore, Maryland, Christine Webb of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mattie Boyd of Chicago, Illinois, Josephine (Frederick) Moore, Addye (William) Smith Sr., all of Gary, Indiana; and two stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren, goddaughter, Joann Marcus; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Friday, January 29, 2010 from 12 noon - 8 p.m. with family hour from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave.

Funeral Service is Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C., 3711 Pennsylvania Ave, East Chicago, IN with Supt. William A. Smith, Sr. officiating. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
