Sarah Reddington Halczak, 69, of Duryea, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at home. Born June 11, 1940, in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Gertrude Hanahoe Reddington and Joseph Reddington, who both died when she was a child. Her surrogate parents, brother Jack and sister-in-law Joanie, who raised her, are also deceased. She was the wife of Michael Halczak, who died January 27, 1984. Sarah graduated from Pittston High School and worked as a nurse's assistant in West Hudson Hospital, Kearny, N.J. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents and surrogate parents, by grandchild infant Darlynn Reed; great-grandson infant Shaun Michael; brothers Jack, Joseph and Dick; and sister Mary Joan Keim. Sarah is survived by daughters Cathy and her husband, Kenny Delaney, Florida; Darlene and her husband, Bob Reed, Florida; Michele Halczak, at home; Karen and her husband, Gary La Placa, New Jersey; and Patty and her husband, Scott Currie, Texas; son Jet Halczak, Alabama; stepdaughter Eve Ann Milewski, New Jersey; sister Lorretta Reddington, Pittston; brothers Jerry and his wife, Marilyn Reddington, New Jersey; Tommy and his wife, Wilma Reddington; and Paul Reddington, Delaware; grandchildren Dotti, Ricky, Michael, Erik, Shanna, Timmy, Ryan, Justin, Aiden, Kylie, Nathaniel, Sarah and Jonathan; as well as great-grandchildren Brianna, Alyssa, Matthew and Rachel. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from the Graziano Funeral Home Inc., 700 Township Blvd., Pittston Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Duryea, at 9:30 a.m. Viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment is in St. Mary of the Assumption Cemetery, Hughestown.
