MarkwellCHESTER, Jan. 1 -- Mrs. Helen Marshall Markwell, 76, for 25 years superintendent of Jervey Hospital in Greenville and widow of WIlliam Markwell, formerly of New York City, died suddenly at her home in Chester Saturday of a heart attack. She had retired about three years ago. She was a native of Chester, a daughter of the late Capt. J.K. and Burnie Walker Marshall. Mrs. Markwell was graduated from Metropolitan Hospital in New York City and did private nursing there for some time. She later became superintendent of Women's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and later was superintendent of the former Pryor Hospital in Chester. She was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church. Surviving are a step-son, Kenneth Markwell; one sister, Mrs. Burnie Marshall Dawson, Chester and one brother, Robert Gill Marshall, Indianapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at Barron's Funeral Home Monday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Raleigh Moore Engle. BUrial will be in Old Purity Cemetery.
