Mr. Joseph Albert "Tooney" Gallien, Jr.

SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. Joseph Albert Gallien, 90 passed away in Longview, Texas, on January 26, 2010. Visitation will be held at Osborn Funeral Home on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2010 in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home on St. Vincent Avenue. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery.

Mr. Gallien was born January 6, 1920 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He moved to Shreveport when he was six years old. While he was still in high school, he went to work for the Shreveport Times in the mailroom. He graduated from Fair Park High School. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force during the European theater from October 1942 through the war's end. He returned to The Times and remained there until his retirement. Following his retirement, you could often find him fishing on the pond behind his house in Longview, Texas.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother and father: Joseph Albert Gallien, Sr. and Rosa Wells Gallien; his wife Sally Bartell Gallien; sisters Marie Underwood, Clara Grabener and brother James Gallien.

He is survived by his children, two sons, Joseph A. Gallien, III and Bill Gallien; three daughters, Vickie Atchley, Michelle Johnson, and Gay Scott; sister Cora Browning; eight grandchildren, Tina Rose, Chris Atchely, Tiffany Scott, Steven Gallien, Jennifer Clausen Suzanne Johnson, Danielle Johnson, and Jason Atchle; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and is two dogs, Tiger and Bootsie.

Joe lived his life to the fullest. He embraced life and made the most of each day that he was blessed to enjoy. His desire was not to show up at Heaven's Gate in well-preserved, pristine condition. Instead, to slide in sideways shake Saint Peter's hand and shout, "Whoo Hoo, what a ride!" He will be missed! Osborn Funeral Home
