Mary Lou South (Snow) Young died Wednesday the 20th of January at the age of seventy-eight at the Eisenhower Hospital in Palm Desert, CA.

Mary Lou was married thirty-four years to Dale C. Young until his death in 1998. Her son, Charles Snow, married to Sharon Snow, died in 2007. She is survived by two daughters, Sonya Snow Stiff, her husband Gary Stiff and Ella Marie Snow; three grandchildren, Jason Snow, Devon Stiff Brough (married to Jesse Brough), and Emily Stiff VonNordick (Married to Everett VonNordick). She has three great-grandchildren, the third born on January 23, just three days after her death. Mary Lou also had three brothers who are all deceased: John T, Brian, and Bill South; her much-loved sister, Sue South McCrary, and husband Keith McCrary, and also has many nieces, nephews, and their children, survive her.

Born in 1931 in Arkansas and being raised in Portales, New Mexico, Mary Lou moved to California and worked for many years in the banking industry in the Los Angeles area and ultimately in Glendora, CA, where she was a Vice President and Branch Manager for Wells Fargo Bank when she retired in 1995. Mary Lou took great pride and satisfaction in assisting her bank customers and attending to their financial needs.

Mary Lou, Dale, and their grandson Jason were long-time residents of West Covina, CA, where Mary Lou enjoyed serving in the Rotary Club and participating with Dale in many Kiwanis Club functions. Mary Lou and Dale enjoyed a vacation home in Palm Springs for many years. After Dale passed, Mary Lou decided to move to Palm Desert with her grandson, Jason. She always enjoyed the lovely desert landscape and took pleasure in the desert garden she fashioned in her own backyard.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Covina Hills Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, Memory Chapel, 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, CA.
