Mrs. Elizabeth Penn died at her home at Woodhaven, Long Island, on Tuesday forenoon, March 5th, at 11:15 after a prolonged illness of about seven years, of hardening of the arteries and other complications.
She was a daughter of Nicholas and Anna Everts and was born in Shavers Creek valley near Manor Hill, this county, on July 13, 1859. At the time of her death she was aged 58 years, seven months and twenty-two days. She was united in marriage to Harry A. Penn, of Lebanon, Pa., who was a printer and at one time worked on the Local News and also The Pilgrim in Huntingdon. Her husband died some ten years ago in Long Island. Mrs. Penn was a member of the M.E. church.
She is survived by four sons and one daughter - George, Allen, Harold Penn, all at home; John Penn, of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Ernest Morrison, of Woodhaven, L.I. She is also survived by one full brother, John C. Everts, of Huntingdon; two half-sisters and four half-brothers - Howard Varner, of Huntingdon; Roland Varner, of McKeesport; Elmer Varner, of Chicago; Mrs. Gertie, wife of Harry Kechman, of Philadelphia; and Mrs. Lottie, wife of Edward Bowers, of Altoona.
The funeral was held on Friday morning, March 8, at 10 o'clock, with interment in Cypress Hill cemetery, Long Island. John Everts and Howard Varner, of Huntingdon, wee in attendance at the funeral
