Mrs. Emma Elizabeth Brueggeman, formerly of Northbrook, died at the age of 101, on June 19 in Chicago. Daughter of early pioneers, Adam and Eva Weber, she was born in Wheeling, Ill., on February 10, 1854. In 1873 she married William Brueggeman, who established the first general store in Northbrook, then the town of Shermerville.
Mrs. Brueggeman is survived by her son, Carl Albert Brieggeman of Monrovia, Calif.; her daughter, Mrs. Stella Thumel of Forest Glen; her granddaughter, Mrs. D.S. McDougall of Wilmette; and four great-grandsons.
Services were held at 5200 N. Western Avenue, Chicag, on June 22. Interment was in Wheeling Cemetery.

Note, Wheeling did not exist as a town at the time of Emma's birth - It was incorporated in 1894. Wheeling Township was established in 1850, and that's where she was born.
Shermerville did not become a town until 1901, and became Northbrook in 1927.
