Wanda June Cornwell Smith, 78, of Rosemount, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born Oct. 7, 1931, in New Boston, a daughter of the late Arland and Mary Cornwell. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1949. Wanda was a member of the Christ Community Church in Portsmouth and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Richard W. Smith, Jr., whom she married July 2, 1954 in New Boston. She is also survived by one son, Brian Keith Smith of Givens, W.Va.; two daughters, Leigh Ann Smith of Columbus and Jill Elaine Adkins of West Portsmouth; seven grandchildren, Misty Bryant, Benjamin Adkins, Friday Adkins, Felicia Letharp, Tiffany Smith, Brianna Smith and Kyle Smith; two great-grandchildren, Gracie Letharp and Chloe Bryant; two sisters, Faye Glass of Oveda, Fla., and Vivian Williams of Twin Valley; and two brothers, Gerald Cornwell of Lucasville and Ronald Cornwell of Twin Valley.
Services will be 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with Pastor Ralph Clay officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service. Online condolences to dwswickfuneralhome.com.
