Obituary, Nelson--
Mamie Constance (Thorson) Nelson, daughter of John and Amanda Thorson of Ong, passed away March 14, 1957 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Thurin, of Ong, at the age of 76 years, seven months and 24 days, For several years she has been confined at home because of failing health. She was born on a farm one mile east of Ong, in Fillmore County on July 20, 1880 and grew to womanhood on the farm. For several years she worked as a hired girl for various families to help support her family.

She was baptized and confirmed at the Stockholm Lutheran Church and was a member of that congregation until her transfer to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Ong in 1923, with the rest of her family.

She was united in marriage to Albin Nelson on October 7, 1908. To this union three children were born, Mrs. Roy Thurin of Ong, Sgt. Jess Willard Nelson, who is at present serving the U. S. Army in Germany, and Pluma, who passed away nearly two years ago.

Her husband, one daughter, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Surviving her passing are Mrs. Roy Thurin, Sgt. Jess Willard Nelson, six grandchildren, three great- grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 27 at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church by the pastor Wendell Berggren. Singers were Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Benson, Mrs. Harry Pearson and Floyd Anderson. Songs used were "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "We Shall Sleep But Not Forever." Thomas Nelson sang a solo, "Beyond the Sunset."

Pallbearers were Milbourne Pearson, Vincent Erickson, Kermit Erickson, Gayle Gunn, Leland Thurin and Leonard Thurin.

Among the visitors at the Roy Thurin home over the week end were Mr. and Mrs. George Idt and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Karnatz, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Erickson and family and Mrs. Edna Karnatz, all of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. James Powers and family, DeWitt; Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Gunn and family., Hardy; Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Erickson, Grand Island; Leonard Thurin, Kearney, Carolyn Thurin, Hastings; Nona and Esther Pearson, Mrs. Minnie Bergquist, Mary Nelson. and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ludwig all of Shickley, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Swanson, Mrs. Eula Smock and Norbert Nelson all of Edgar.
