Albin Nelson
Albin Nelson was born in Avbilda Congregation, Halmstad, Halland Sweden, Febr 7, 1883 and passed away at Ong, Nebraska, Dec 19, 1934 at the age of 51 years, 10 months and 12 days.

He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Sweden May 10, 1897. June 16, 1901, he arrived in America locating at Ong, Nebraska.

Mr. Nelson was married to Mamie Thorson of Ong, Nebr., Oct 7, 1908. This union was blessed with three children, two daughters and one son, Evelyn, Pluma and Willard. Mr. Nelson spent several years of his life on the farm around the Ong community both before his marriage and later with his beloved family. The last seven or eight years he has been engaged in trucking business in Ong where he resided with his family.

Only a few months ago he built a fine dwelling house for his family at Ong. Mr. Nelson was known as a hard and industrious worker. It seemed to be his delight to do just a little more than the average laborer. He was a loving husband and father to always see to it that no member of his family was hungry in his home. Friends and strangers were often invited and always welcome to a cup of coffee or a fine meal. He was ready to do any one a favor, strangers were no exception.

Left to mourn his untimely departure are, his beloved wife, the three children, Mrs. Roy Thurin, Pluma and Willard, all of Ong, one brother, Gustav Nelson of Chicago, one sister in Sweden, Mrs. Gertrude Henningson, a host of relatives and many near and dear friends.

Mr. Nelson became a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Ong in 1923 and was a member of this church at the time of his death.

Only a week or more ago, Dec 15, he was busy arranging for the Christmas celebration on the streets of Ong and was thoroughly thrilled to hand out candy to the children. Among his friends possibly the children will miss him most. Looking over the years of his life it seems that God has always been very good to Mr. Nelson. Shall we not dare to hope that God was very near to him in the hour of death. The sudden-ness of this departure is a clarion call to us who are living to be always ready for we know not the day nor the hour.

Funeral services were held from the home at 1:30 Sunday, Dec 23 and from the church at 2 o'clock. Psalm 103 was read at the home and John 14:1-6, Isaiah *0:3-11 at the church. The pastor chose as texts Isaiah *0:6-8 speaking on the theme, "The voice in the wilderness." A mixed octet conveyed beautiful and comforting messages in the songs rendered, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross," "The Beautiful Valley of Eden" and Face to Face." The pastor read a special message from Mr. Nelson's brother, Gustav, at Chicago, who could not be present.

The packed auditorium with the overwhelming number present together with the many exquisite, beautiful flowers registered in very eloquent tribute to the life of the departed. God grant that we may meet again at home with Jesus in Glory.
