Martie was married to Leona "Lena/Dutchie" Viola Smith in 1915. She was a daughter of John F. Smith and Winnie Alexander. After their marriage, they lived off Route #2 out of Eddy, Texas, but were living on Williams Street in Marlin by 1920 and 1930 when, in the latter year, they were employed as electric machine operators. Lena was later a physical therapist. She died in 1969 after which Martie, at the venerable age of 77, was married to Flora E. Sprott, 20 years his junior.
