Obituary: The Daily Mail, Hagerstown, Washington County, MD, Thursday, 4 November 1943

Daniel Edward Socks, 62, died at his home on the Antietam Battlefield near Sharpsburg at 4 a.m. today, of complications, after a five weeks illness.

Born in Kearneysville, W.V., he was the son of Daniel E. and Eliza (Rouskulp) Socks and had lived in this county for the past 27 years.

Besides his wife, Bessie Estelle Socks, he is survived by the following: daughter, Mrs. Helen Stover, Funkstown; son, Charles Edgar, Williamsport; sister, Mrs. Ida Shaw, this city; brother John, this city, and four grandchildren.

The body was removed to the A.K. Coffman funeral home, where services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday by the Rev. Mason Kessecker. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery.
