CSM (Ret) Guy "Sully" Sullivan, age 83 of Columbus, Ga., passed away Monday, March 6, 2006, at the Columbus Hospice House.
CSM Sullivan was preceded in death by his siblings, Lelia, Theola, Ura (Booge), Verla, Geneva, Delores, Leroy, Elmer (Bobby) Vernon and Margaret.
CSM Sullivan was born in Hickman County, on Nov. 27, 1922, son of the late Lon Dee Sullivan and Hattie Barnhill Sullivan. He lived in Columbus since 1975 and was retired from the U.S. Army after 32 years. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal w/V device and 2 oak leaf clusters, the Purple Heart, and the Presidential Unit Citation and numerous other medals and citations. He was a member of St. John's Masonic Lodge #332 and was a volunteer for the Red Cross where he drove for the Tram Services at Martin Army Community Hospitaland a volunteer with the Wynnton Neighborhood Network Food Bank.
Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Lillian A. Sullivan of Columbus; his sisters, Molly Akin of Thompson Station and Wilma Sullivan of Franklin; his children, Bruce Johnson, Gail Sawyer and Bonita Kingsbury; grandchildren, Robert Kingsbury III, Tonya Stokes, Joey Pellettere, Kim Stokes, David Kingsbury and Diana Kingsbury; great-grandchildren Caleb Pellettere, Joeanna Pellettere and Hope Cannon.
Graveside Funeral services with Military Honors will be held today, March 9 at 2 p.m. at Main Post Cemetery in Ft. Benning, Ga. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
