Betty L. Shoemaker, 87, of Wabash, died Octobner 7, 5:18 a.m. at Wabash Skilled Care Center.
She was born December 5, 1921 in Lagro, Indiana to Frank and Mildred (Bailey) Harrell. She married Leslie Junior Shoemaker in Wabash on August 28, 1943. He died July 12, 1998.
Mrs. Shoemaker was a 1940 graduate of Lagro High School. She was a homemaker, a seamstress, and taught Tolle Painting. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Woman's Clubhouse Association, and Alpha Upsilon Sorority, all of Wabash. Mrs. Shoemaker enjoyed playing Bingo and Skip-Bo at the Senior Center. She also loved crafts, especially Tolle Painting, and enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, and working jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by three children, Leslie (Harold) Kaiser, Mishawaka; Carol (Larry) Evenson, Greentown; and Frank (Becki) Shoemaker, Puyallup, Washington; a sister, Ivadean Owens, North Fort Myers, Florida; six grandchildren, John P. (Sharon) Evenson and Phillip L. (Stacy) Evenson, both of Greentown; David W. Evenson, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mandy A. (D.J.) Capps, Bloomington; Angie (Doug) Ward, Dowagiac, Michigan; and Zack (Sara) Shoemaker, Puyallup, Washington; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held October 10, 2 p.m., at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash, with Chaplain Steve Fleck officiating. Friends may call October 9, 5-7pm Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash.
