WESTOVER HISTORY:
The following information was furnished by Wm. Westover of Waterville, Vt. and Mrs. Melvin Steven Westover, of Boston, Mass. The family history as they have it, and is as follows:

"After the Revolutionary War two brothers, Moses and David Westover, who were Loyalists, went from Mass. to Canada, and were given grants there by the King.
David settled in Missisquoi County, Quebec. and little is known of him.
Moses Westover settled at Sutton Que. He was a surveyor and laid out the boundries of Brome County. His son, Stephen, who was also a surveryor, was drown in the St. Lawrence River in 1823.
Stephen marrien Dorinda Ball and had 5 children;
Betsy, who married a Pettes; Saphrona, who married a Sale; Olive, who married a Pettes; Stephen Egbert and Roswell.
Stephan Egbert married twice; by first wife Mary Hawley, had:
Melvin Stephen, b. May 23 1854; Dies Sept. 17 1932. Married Hattie May Foss, Oct. 8th 1885. No issue.
Ernest P. (dec'd) m. Hattie Ross; son Melvin lives at 2238 College Ave, Indianapolis, Ind.
Ella Westover (dec'd)
Newbury E. (dec'd) m. Abbie Ball; had 2, now Mrs. Effie MacKay, and Mrs. Vera W. MacPhee, both of Wenatchee, Wash.
Frank L. m Julia ----; 2 children, Leslie Jr and Mrs. Hazel W. Johnson, 1635 E 7th St, Denver, Colo.
Stephen by his 2nd. wife, Eliza Martin, had 7 children:
Mary of Boston, Arthur (dec'd), Egbert, a lawyer in Montreal, Ruben and Jessie of Everett, Wash., Annie of Magog, Canada, and Eva of Sandwich Cape Cod, Mass.
Roswell Westover, youngest son of Stephen, was born 1820, m. Hannah Marie Smith, had 2 children, Eldon b. 1855 and died young, and William, born, 1861.
William Westover, m. Lois E. Barnes, in 1886, had 5 children; Eldon, Damon, Fern, Lucinda and Ina Naomi.
Eldon had 3, Earl, Rodman and Lois
Damon has 2, Mary Lois and Evelyn.
P.S: According to old New England records: "Lyman Westover was born at Sheffield, Mass. Mar.14, 1779, son of Moses Westover and Eliz. Holmes." Mrs. Westover Channing of Chicago, Ill. a descendant of Lyman, states in her family reord that Lyman was reared in Canada.
Registry of Deeds, "Mar. 18, 1774, Moses Westover to Robert Green; and same date another deed to Nathaniel Downing." Also from "Mass. Soldiers and Sailors" "Sheffield, Berkshire County, Moses Westover, Roll certified at Sheffield." "Private, Capt. Enoch Noble's Co.; Ashley's Reg. Entered, Aug.1st.1777; discharged, Aug 20th. 20 days of service. Company marched to Bennington, order of Brig.-Gen. Fellows and Com. of Safety, request of Ge. Stark."
