John C Irvine Dies at Baltimore Home
John C Irvine, well know former Altoonian, died unexpectedly at his home in Baltimore, MD, 28 Aug. Mr Irvine was the son of the late Mr and Mrs. Walter Scott Irvine, long-time residents of the 3rd Ward. He was born in Altoona and was a graduate of the Altoona High School,class of 1910.
Mr Irvine was employed in Altoona in a supervisory capacity in the signal department of the Pennsylvania Railroad and was transfered to Baltimore many years ago. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Masonic bodies and the P.R.R. retired Men's Association No. 5 Baltimore. He was of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Hester G. Irvine, and a daughter, Mrs. Betty A. Linn. The funeral was held in Baltimore Wednesday, Aug 30, with interment in Lorain Park Cenetery, Baltimore.
