Mr. Oscar R. "Bob" Roberson, Jr., 85, died Friday (June 13, 2014) at Hospice House Satilla following a long illness. He was a native of Blackshear but had resided in Waycross most of his life.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his parents, Oscar R. Roberson, Sr. and Sarah Cox Roberson and a sister, Marinell Davis.
He was a retired Army Military Officer and had served in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a retired sargeant with the Department of Corrections. He was a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church, Adult I Sunday School Class, Retired Military Officers Association, Masonic Lodge # 305, Hasan Temple and was a York Rite Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Beverly Roberson of Waycross; a daughter, Maryse Fort (husband Gary) of Waycross; a son, John W. Roberson of Dallas, TX; a grandson, Joey Fort (wife Mary Beth Fort) of Waycross; and three great grandchildren, Kierson, Khoen and Mary Kailyn Fort all of Waycross.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday (June 16, 2014) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at funeral home Monday morning from 10 until 11.
