Hiram Patridge Gates, Jr., 77, of Benton, Arkansas, died January 15, 2010.

He was born in San Francisco, California to the late Hiram Partridge Gates, Sr. and Anita (Martin) Gates on May 23, 1932.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of the Benton VFW Post #2256. He was both a member and an elder of First Lutheran Church of Benton and had worked in the financial services industry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Gates, one brother-in-law, Robert Olson, and two sisters-in-law, June Tharaldson and Irene Kowitz.

He is survived by one son, Hiram Paul Gates, III and wife, Ann of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one daughter, CaryAn Dearing and husband, Cole of Chandler, Arizona; one sister, Janice Ross and husband, Duane of Ocean Park, Washington; brothers and sisters-in law; forty-four nieces and nephews, and many other loving and caring family members.

A local memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at First Lutheran Church of Benton with Pastor James Burns officiating.

The family held a funeral service at East Zion Lutheran Church in Starbuck, Minnesota. Inturnment was at East Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
