Charles Thomas Clemons, 75, died on Friday Jan 30, 2009. The native of Grayson County was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was co-owner of Clemons Greenhouse for 30 years and a retiree of Ford Motor Co after 40 years of service. He was also a member of UAW Local 862 and an Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He received Ford Motor Company's Ambassador Award for his support and promotion of the product. He was also a coach of major level competitive softball teams in the 1960's and 1970's. He is preceded in death by his parents Harlan and Leona Clemons. He is survived by his wife Mary Ruth Cash Clemons; sons Tom (Dixie) Clemons and Jim Clemons; daughter Lori (Andy) Vance; stepson Warrne (Stephanie) Tallent; brother William Lee Clemons; sister Mary Charles Alvey; grandchildren, Kellen, Caitlin, April, Chris, Vanessa, Ara, Miranda and Aaron; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2pm on Tuesday Feb 2 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home in Shepherdsville with burial in Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington.

Charles Thomas Clemons, age 75, passed away Friday, January 30, 2009. He was an Air force veteran of the Korean War, co-owner of Clemons Greenhouse for 30 years, and a retiree of the Ford Motor Company after 40 years of service. He was a Catholic, member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and a member of U.A.W. Local 862. As a young boy, growing up on a farm in Peonia, Ky., he graduated from St. Paul Catholic School. He joined the Air Force where he became a C-124 Aircraft Load-Master flying numerous missions in Southeast Asia. During his military service, he competed as Fast-Pitch Softball Pitcher for numerous military teams. Later he coached in "major level" competition softball leagues in the Louisville area. Among those teams: Charlie's Boys, Ulrich AC, Nights of St. John, and Earthmen. Many of his teams went on to success in USSSA and ASA World tournaments. He received many awards at Ford Motor Co. for his suggestions to reduce cost in the Standard Parts, and the Chairman's Ambassador Award for his support and promotion of Ford products. He was also an early member of the Zoneton Volunteer Fire Dept. where he helped, with others, to build a foundation for the current Zoneton Fire Dept. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth (Cash) Clemons; sons: Tom (Dixie) Clemons, and Jim Clemons; daughter, Lori (Andy) Vance; stepson, Warren (Stepanie) Tallent; brother, William Lee Clemons; sister, Mary Charles Alvey; grandchildren, Kellen, Caitlin, April, Chris, Vanessa, Ara, Miranda, Aaron; five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. CLEMONS - Charles Thomas, 75, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, January 30, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan & Leona (Alvey) Clemons; his sister, Clara Francis Joyce; and a brother, James Raymond Clemons. Mr. Clemons was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, co-owner of Clemons Greenhouse for 30 years and a retiree of the Ford Motor Company after 40 years of service. He was a Catholic, a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and a member of U.A.W. Local #862. Friends may pay their respects from 1-8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday, where services will be held at 2 p.m. at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 N.
