William Henry Russell Barton, age 89 years, passed away at the home of his son, W.T. Barton, at the Erwin Farm.

Mr. Barton was a son of the late Darlin* and Jane Caskey Barton. His wife, the late Harriett Moody Barton preceded him to the grave a number of years ago. He is survived by one son, W.T. Barton; two daughters, Mrs. John Montgomery and Miss Mary Ellen Barton; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at White Springs Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock with Rev. V.E. Robertson officiating, assisted by Rev. Vern Helms, Rev. E. K. Anderson and Rev. J.W. McElrath. Interment followed in Antioch cemetery.

Pallbearers were H.A. Montgomery, A.H. Plyler, Will Smart, D.W. Stratton, Claude Parker, J.W. Mahaffey, R.P. Barton and Frank Funderburk.

The lovely floral offering was in charge of the following ladies: Mrs. Louise Slaton, Mrs. Mary Robinson, Mrs. Juanita Knight, Miss Billie Barton, Mrs. Vivian Barton, Mrs. Ruth Thompson, Mrs. Lenvra Hammond, Miss Margaret Montgomery, Mrs. Ethel Barton.

Mr. Barton was one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of Lancaster county. He was a regular attendant at church services as long as his health permitted, was always interested in religious and civic activities. He has a host of friends and relatives who will be sad to know of his passing.
