Arthur was born in Windy Point and was usually referred to by his middle name, "Emmett". He married Mary Jane Dillinger sometime before 1864 and between 1864 and 1879 they had 5 boys and 4 girls.
They had a farm on Hummel Road between Windy Point and Murrensville. GPS Location: 41.35063, -79.24239
Margaret Mary Atwell Critchlow, who married Will Critchlow, was born here on December 2, 1866. One brother was named Sam and one was named George.
Emmett fell on hard times. He and his sons went to Tionesta with their teams, "work horse", to work in the timber industry. At some point Emmett and his wife Mary Jane lived on a houseboat on an eddy on the Allegheny river, north of Emlenton and at a feed mill immediately east of Lisbon, PA.
Much later, in the 1920's, one of Margaret Mary's brothers, George, was a traveling Bible salesman. George often stayed overnight with Lee Ross and Susie Critchlow at the McKee place on his travels.
The Atwells had a reputation of being divisive in church matters. Apparently they were involved in the division of several churches in the area.
