Frances Louise Knox Hawkins, 73, died Saturday Oct 26 2000 from respiratory disease at Maple Knoll Village Nursing Home in Cincinnati, OH.
A native of Wilmore,Ky, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Lula Craft Knox.

Mrs. Hawkins was a retired LPN at the VA Hospital in Lexington. She attended public schools in Jessamine County and was a graduate of Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Lexington. She was employed at Good Sam for more that 15 years. While employed at VA Hospital, she received two Superior Performance awards in recognition of outstanding performance in the care of her patients, among other accolades. She retired from VA after 20 years of service.

She enjoyed the fine arts and traveling, nationally and internationally. After retirement, she worked part time as a relief nurse at the Christan Love Center and was a volunteer for several years at God's Pantry.
She joined Cedar Top Baptist Church in Wilmore at an early age. Prior to her illness, she was active in the church's Sunday school, choir and the Progressive Club.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Eddie Jones of Cincinnati; a sister, Margaret Frier; a brother and sister-in-law, James A. and Mary Ogle Knox, Sr., all of Louisville; four grandchildren; two great grand children; three nephews; one great nephew; two nieces and a host of cousins and friends.

Her daughter Deborah Hawkins Burrell preceded her in death in July 1993.

A memorial service and burial will be held on Thursday, Nov 2, at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens Chapel. The Rev. William Donald Crutcher, family friend and pastor of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Lexington, will preform the eulogy.

Arrangements were made by Smith and Smith Funeral Home in Lexington.
