son of George W. Black - Frances C. Talley

George and Eliza Black and one child moved to Young County in 1876. The young couple settled at Tonk Valley and organized the Tonk Valley Baptist Church, of which he and his wife were charter members. At the time, he also served churches at Gooseneck, South Bend and Fish Creek. Rev. Black was the first person in Tonk Valley to own a car.

In 1880, George W. Black moved to Graham where he was called to be the first pastor of the Graham First Baptist church in 1881. He was the pastor of this church from 1881-1897.

Brother Black has been the preacher of the Tonk Valley Church, First Baptist Church at Graham, Eliasville, Hopewell, Belknap, Proffitt, Pleasant View, First Baptist Church at Olney and Loving, all in Young County.

He was pastor for a short time for Elbert Baptist Church in Throckmorton County and this is the only tie he was outside of Young County, Texas.
