East Hampton, March 27. Joseph Hallberg died at his home in Middle Haddam yesterday afternoon at 1:30 after a long illness. The deceased was 78 years of age. He was born in Sweden, coming to America 52 years ago. He leaves besides a wife, a son, Charles Hallbeg of Haddam Neck; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur House of Hartford and Miss Lottie Hallberg of South Manchester, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Haltman [sic], Mrs. Emma Erickson and Mrs. Clara Axelson, all of South Manchester. The funeral will be held from his home, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Allvin Lindgren will officiate. Burial will be in Rocklanding cemetery.

The funeral of Joseph Hallberg was largely attended from his late home in Middle Haddam yesterday afternoon. A male quartet rendered several selections. Rev. Albin Lindgren of Middletown officiated. The pallbearers were Arthur House of Hartford, Thomas N. Cavenaugh, Sidney Hallberg and Edward [sic] Hallberg, all of Middle Haddam. Relatives were present from Manchester, Hartford, Boston and Watertown Mass; interment was in Rocklanding Cemetery.
